This body of work was documented in an old family compound in Dubai. Growing up we lived in the same compound with my great grandmother, grandparents, and uncle’s family as well as the staff accommodation. The houses in the compound were eventually abandoned as all family members had moved to newer but because the recession hit they were left standing for a good number of years. It became a habit to visit the old compound and document the change until inevitably it was torn down completely. The balloons not only reference the innocence of childhood but also symbolize the volatile times we live in and abruptness of change.
